I tried direct tethering with a USB cable, unsuccessfully. Clearly what we needed was a way to get the USG to use the cell phone as an alternate WAN connection for our entire LAN. The catch 22 was that when the wifi connection was active, the local LAN connection was unavailable on those computers.
